A highlight of every year-end Annual General Meeting is to recognize some of the many deserving Bloordale volunteers. Despite having to cancel the 2020 baseball season, we thought it only fitting to recognize an outstanding community volunteer.
Susanne Reis is well known by families who have played 9U (Rookie) and before that 7U (T-Ball) over the past five years. As house league convenor, she has devoted countless personal hours making sure things are ‘just right’.
As Susanne remembers:
Back in the earlier days I saw an e-mail looking for volunteers and responded. All I wanted was information to get a grasp of what it entailed. Wendy (previous Bloordale president) set up a meeting for me to meet Mike (previous Bloordale registrar). Nervously I went in to meet him thinking I would be getting information on what the position was about and taking it all home to think about it. Well…that is not how it worked out. I walked out as the co-convenor to Rookie and no idea what I was doing. I thank Wendy and Mike for helping me get started.
It really has been fun. I’m so glad I took the plunge (or more like I was given no choice…lol). It’s been an absolute pleasure volunteering alongside this group of amazing people.
