We are just days away from Bloordale Baseball’s Opening Day and our fields are in need of a little TLC after the long hard winter.
With this is in mind, Bloordale is organizing a clean up day to help get the diamonds in shape for May 3.
If you are available to lend a hand, please meet at Millwood 1 Park (the big diamond under the lights off Silverthorne Bush) on Saturday April 26, at 9 am. Based on how many people arrive, will divide our forces and conquer the challenge. We are hoping to clean up all of our parks: Millwood, Neilson, Broadacres, Eatonville, Mill Valley
Some of the work involves simply raking leaves and picking up trash. We are also going to be sorting and cleaning out the bunker and batting cage at Millwood 1. And, for those with more field maintenance experience, we will be doing some field work as well.
Many hands makes light lifting. 🙂
We anticipate we should all be done by Noon at the latest.
If you know of any high school students who are looking for volunteer hours, this is a perfect opportunity. Or if you are looking for a good chance to show your teams the importance of giving back to the baseball community, now is the chance.
The league has limited equipment at the park for maintenance, but if you have any the following, and could bring it with you, it would be helpful:
• garden rake
• fan rake
• Thatch rake
• wheelbarrow to move clay (the one at the park is currently broken)
• garden shovel
The long range forecast for Saturday is very promising.
If you have any questions, please email [email protected]. We look forward to seeing people on Saturday morning.
