On November 28, Bloordale Baseball officially closed our books for the 2023 season at our 62nd Annual General Meeting at the Canadiana Restaurant. During this meeting, we reviewed our successful season and recognized some of our outstanding volunteers.
Steve Groh received the 2023 Bloordale Coach of the Year award after leading his 13U Select Team to a Provincial Championship. Steve was lauded by his parents for his leadership, dedication, baseball knowledge, and sportsmanship.
Coaches Daniel Murphy and Derek Churchill-Smith accepted the 2023 Bloordale Team of the Year award on behalf of the very successful 9U Select Green team. The team achieved a rare triple crown, going undefeated in the Lloyd McConnie tournament, the EBA Championship and the OBA Provincial Championship.
Norm Carriere received the Dave Lawrence Bloordale Volunteer of the Year award. In 2023 Norm was the Bloordale’s Director of Rep and a 9U Select coach. If that wasn’t enough, Norm spends untold hours ensuring Bloordale’s diamonds are in impeccable condition.
Cecilia Fulton was recognized with the Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) Life Time Achievement award. Cecilia’s contributions to Bloordale Baseball since 2002 are too many to list here. Cecilia currently serves as our vice-president and house league umpire-in-chief. Pictured from left to right: Steve Watson (outgoing EBA president and recently elected TBA president), Cecilia, husband Larry, and son John.
Not pictured here, Lucas Medeiros was a co-winner of the Senior Umpire of the Year award at the November 16 EBA AGM. The award was accepted by his brother, Matt.
Congratulations to these well-deserved award winners!
