It was a good night if your name was Dave at the Bloordale Annual General Meeting, held virtually on November 9.
Dave Kim won the first ever Bloordale Coach of the Year award. Dave, who will be coaching the Bloordale 13U Rep A team in 2022, was recognized by a steady stream of parents and coaches for his emphasis on player development, fair play, and commitment. As the team manager Lisa Au noted, Dave’s coaching style is something that the players can learn to apply outside of baseball: always try your best, never give up, support one another and most importantly have fun. His focus was not about winning in baseball but also what I consider lessons for “winning” in life by having a positive attitude, perseverance, and being a good person.
Dave Good, won the Bloordale Volunteer of the Year award. Dave has been a lifelong baseball fanatic, and has volunteered in many different roles with Bloordale over the past fifteen years. Many people commented that Dave especially loves being on the field coaching the children, and has a special passion for pitching. When recognizing Dave, vice president Cecilia Fulton also paid tribute to Dave Lawrence, after whom the volunteer award is named. Dave Lawrence is a former Bloordale president, who also volunteered for many decades.
Bloordale Baseball appreciates the many volunteers who devote their time. Congratulations Dave and Dave!
