Final Four Finish for Mosquito Select Green

by | Jun 13, 2016

Bloordale’s Mosquito Select Green Team had quite a debut in their first tournament ever as team, making it all the way to the Final Four in last weekend’s Brampton event.

The team went undefeated 3-0 in round robin loop play before facing Oshawa in semi final action.

“It was an incredible game,” reports Head Coach Andrew Frost. “We were losing 7-1 and rallied  to come back and pull ahead 10-9.”

In the end, the team came out on the down side of a 17-14 result, but won “a lot of respect from spectators and coaches,” says Coach Frost.

“It was a great tournament for the boys and they raised their game to a new level. We played our best baseball of the season so far in all four games we played.”

The results and the experience gained last weekend give the team some huge momentum heading into the Niagara tournament in 2 weeks.

The Mosquito Select Gold team was also competing in the Brampton tournament, marking that squad’s debut on the select tournament circuit, complete with 6 players new to the team.

The team finished  the weekend 0-3 playing the Orillia Royals, Bolton Braves and Richmond Hill Phoenix.
“Our team rallied in the third game against the Phoenix losing a close one 9-7,” reports Head Coach John Valvano. “Overall, some good performances from the players in our first tournament and this gives us something to build on.”
Both teams are back in action on Sunday during regular loop games. The Gold team is on the road taking  on Royal York at Rotary Park at 3 pm while the Green team is home to Annette at Millwood 2 at 6 pm. Come out and cheer them on.
