Rookie Selects win OBA Rep Tourney in Niagara

by | Aug 8, 2013

The Bloordale 1 Rookieball Select Team recently travelled to Niagara Falls to play in their annual senior OBA rookieball tournament over the long weekend and emerged as tournament champions!

The Bloordale boys played Niagara Falls and Barrie who are both AA teams and Milton’s AAA team in their round robin group and emerged as the top team in the group after going undefeated in their three games against these clubs with convincing wins of 5 of more runs in every game.

The boys then played the Brantford Red Sox AAA team in the semi-finals and stayed the course with a 14-9 win.

The final was never going to be easy as the tough Guelph Royals (another solid AAA team) had advanced through their group and semi-final game with some big wins along the way. However, Bloordale once again got hits from everybody in their line-up, played solid and at times spectacular defense, and won the tournament championship 15-12.

The entire Bloordale team, and coaching staff, felt great about the win as everybody on the team made significant contributions of some type or another over the course of the weekend. The Championship simply topped off a weekend where the now 34-5 Bloordale group all had a lot of fun on and off the diamond.
