Rookieball Select 2 win consolation championship

by | Jun 3, 2013

Congratulations Bloordale Rookie Consolation Champions!
Wow what a weekend (Jun 1-2) for the Bloordale Rookie Select 2 team. They battled the rain, the wind, the heat and the teams from Woodstock, Newmarket, Markham, North York and finally Oakville.
This team that was only put together in April of this year are developing and bonding into quite the competitive team. Heading into the tournament this past weekend in Burlington they had only played in 4 games together to date.
The boys went through the round robin winning all 3 of their games. The 3rd game against Markham they needed to dig deep with 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th to secure the win. They faced a very good North York team in the semi finals and came out on the losing end (North York were the eventual champions).
But the boys showed resilience in bouncing back to beat Oakville in the Consolation Final game.
The coaches and parents are very proud of how are boys competed and conducted themselves on and off the baseball diamond. We received a nice email of praise from one of the coaches of the opposing teams citing how he will now use Bloordale as an example of how he wants his team to compete.
The most important thing at the end of the weekend was the fun that was had by all.
Way to go boys!!

Coach Eric
