WEBMASTERS NOTE: In November 2011, Dave was inducted to the Carmen Bush Signature Club. Click here and the following the links to see the tribute to him.
It is with tremendous sadness and a heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of Dave Lauzon.
Dave lost his battle on the morning of Sept. 7 following a lengthy illness. I know I speak for all who knew and had the pleasure of crossing paths with Dave, when I say how much he will be missed.
Dave’s passion for baseball and instructing young people in the finer points of the game will be his legacy. Whether hitting thousands of fungos, throwing batting practice, orchestrating from the dugout or spending hours fixing up a ball field by hand after a rain storm to make sure a game could be played, Dave always put his players first.
Dave touched hundreds of baseball families in Bloordale, Etobicoke and Toronto. He served his community not only as a coach but also on the executives of Bloordale, Etobicoke and Toronto serving as President for many years on all three of the associations.
On behalf of the Bloordale Baseball community, I wish to express our deepest sympathies to Dave’s family on their loss and offer them our prayers and best wishes in this time of sorrow.
A memorial visitation for Dave will be held Sept 11, 1-3 p.m. at Simple Alternatives, 1535 South Gateway Road, Mississauga (North East corner of Dixie and South Gateway, south of Eglinton Ave.) In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Cancer Society.
Anyone wishing to leave comments or thoughts is encouraged to do so at the bottom of this page.

Dave’s dedication to the EBA, his joy at coaching, his profound respect for his players, his tireless service to the TBA, his calm and understanding demeanour and, most importantly, his love of his family will all be sorely missed. Those of us who got to know Dave over the years knew how much he loved baseball and loved to coach kids. A great guy all round. On behalf of our baseball family in Scarborough, our sympathies to his family and his many friends.

Words are a poor medium for expressing the emotions that present themselves at times like these. I share the expressions conveyed by others who knew Dave much longer than me. Please extend my heartfelt condolences to Dave’s family.

This is indeed a shock. I had great respect for David and all his hard work for minor baseball in Toronto. During his tenure as President of the TBA he showed fairness and concern for all baseball programs throughout the city and set the TBA on the right path.

Words are not enough to express our sorrow at this loss. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Lauzon family from the Rexdale Baseball League. Dave will be missed by all, as a friend and a great supporter of our baseball community.
Carolina Kay
President
Rexdale Baseball
This is a true shame. Toronto baseball, although still very strong, is weakened by Dave’s passing. He was a visionary. He had the patience of a monk and he was a huge supporter of community spirit and baseball. Clearly he was in it for all the right reasons. I didn’t know him in the same manner as (many) but I am certain he was also a great friend. All our best to his family.
Mark Ireland
East York Baseball
My older son, Matthew, had the good fortune of being coached by Dave, who taught him about the sport and sportsmanship in equal measure. Dave shared his passion and dedication at every drill, every game, every tournament. Our condolences to Dylan, and the rest of the Lauzon family.
Theresa Kane
On behalf of York Baseball, please accept our deepest sympathy. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dave’s family and friends. Dave was an integral part of the TBA. We cannot replace his dedication to the kids and the organizations.

There are people that you cross paths with in life that you feel truly grateful you had a chance to meet and work with.
The enthusiasm he showed for baseball will be something that will stay with me personally and, I am sure, with many in this city. Rest in peace Dave, and my condolences to the family.
